For the peanuts, if you have a co-worker that is allergic, then they will sue the company if you buy the peanuts. Blame people who sue, not your company. As for the rest of the items, depends on what type of product you make.
Jewelry can get snagged on equipment. Most people who use industrial saws for example will always remove wedding rings. It is just a safety thing. I know you may not see it, but talk to an insurance person for your industry, and I bet by putting in these types of policies, may be done to control workmans comp. This is a very large expense to a company.
As for the cameras, once again, depends on what you make. Maybe people are stealing from the warehouse. If you really think someone is going to spend all day looking at a camera, to see if you are goofing off, then quit goofing off. I suspect you have a supervisor already whose job this is.
Lots of regulations get passed over the years, and everyone thinks they are a good idea, until someone actually has to implement them. Then you realize, sometimes common sense gets tossed, but a law was passed, and no one wants to get sued.
Communicate your concerns to your supervisor, and either learn to live with it, or get a new job.
References :
Engineer/supervisor for 10 years, now a business owner.
