vending machines in my business?
I want to put a vending machine in my internet cafe, i wanted to know how do i maintain it, what are the costs.
Do i pay for food?
How much of a profit is it in there for me?
I heard that the person who i buy the machine from will put the snacks in for me, and they take like %70 of the profit. Is that true?
Any feedback would be great thanks.
Depends on which route you want to take. 1) You can buy the machine yourself or 2) You work with a company that specializes in vending machines.
If you decide to buy the machine yourself, then you are going to have to fully service it yourself, which mainly is performing maintenance on the machine if it breaks down, managing the money that needs to be taken out or put in, and keeping up with all the inventory.
Cost is going to be really expensive if you go this route because you have to purchase the vending machine (which is a lot), then you have to take the time in buying and stocking all the food as well as managing the money. Then if it breaks down, you have to call someone else to fix it.
If you go work with another company, you don't really have to pay for anything except maybe the food and the rental of the machine. The company will supply you with the machine (that will cut the cost) and will usually do a full service which includes buying and stocking the food, collecting the cash, and fixing the machine if it breaks.
Most likely what will happen is that the company will purchase the food and stock it up. They'll check what is sold and restock. Then they'll collect the money from the machine. Whatever is collected, they will give you your portion of the revenues after they take out the cost of the food and their share. That's why it seems like they take a lot of the money. But you pretty much don't have to do anything except make sure nobody breaks into the machine.
Depending on how much you sell and your markup is how much you are going to make. If the food isn't moving, then don't expect to make a lot. Vending machines are a good way to make a little extra, not become a significant stream of revenue.
Hope that helps and good luck.
